Pride Celebrations In Madison: 2021 Guide

Here's your guide to Pride events in Madison this summer.

MADISON, WI — Pride is back in Madison this June and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as allies, are eager to celebrate after many cancelations last year because of COVID-19.

Here is your guide to Pride events happening in Madison:

June 11- Pride Shabbat: Temple El Beth is hosting a special Pride Shabbat service for members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Richard Wagner, the first openly gay member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors, will share remarks at the service. The online event begins at 7:30 p.m.

June 17-ExtraAFComedy: Pride Edition: Crucible Madison is hosting a two-hour comedy show to celebrate its anniversary and first Pride. The event will take place at Crucible located at, 3116 Commercial Ave. The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $10 to $25.

June 23- 142 Jewish Freewriting Prompts for Pride: Temple Beth El is hosting this virtual event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Participants will follow quick-paced writing prompts and games that explore identity. Those of all ages, identities and Jewish backgrounds are welcome.

June 24-Take Pride in Your Care: The Madison Public Library is hosting a virtual event featuring Jacqueline Boyd, founder of The Care Plan, and members from OutReach LGBTQ+ Community Center. The discussion will include ways members of the community can advocate for their health as well as how to find inclusive local resources. The hour-long virtual event will begin at 6 p.m.

June 26- Pride Prom: Briarpatch Youth Services is hosting a prom celebration for LGBTQ+ youth ages 12 to 19. Members of Briarpatch’s Teens Like Us Program, their friends and any other queer youth are welcome to attend. The event is at Briarpatch, 2720 Rimrock Road, from 5 to 10 p.m.

June 27-Pride Ride: Downtown Madison: Trek Bicycle Madison West and Trek Bicycle Madison East are hosting a downtown bike ride to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. The hour-long ride will begin at McPike Park, 202 S. Ingersoll Street, at 9 a.m.

June 27-Stonewall Memorial Drag March: In honor of Pride Month and Stonewall, The Social Justice Center is hosting a march. The event begins at 2 p.m. at the Center, 1202 Williamson Street.

June 27-Pride 2021: Freedom Inc. is hosting an event to celebrate Black and Southeast Asian folks in the LGBTQ+ community. The celebration is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Aldo Leopold Park, 2906 Traceway Drive. There will be food and performers.

June 29-RuPaul’s Drag Race Trivia: The Rigby Pub is hosting a RuPaul-themed trivia night for Pride month. Participants are encouraged to dress up in drag or in honor of a drag queen to receive bonus points. Trivia starts at 7 p.m. at The Rigby, 119 E Main Street.

June 29- LGBTQIA+ Pride Month: Out In Tech: The University of Wisconsin-Madison Digital Skills Bootcamps is hosting a virtual panel, featuring members of the LGBTQIA+ community who will discuss what it is like to be out in the tech industry. The free webinar is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Participants should register in advance to receive a link.

Aug. 22-Magic Pride Festival: OutReach LGBTQ+ Community Center is hosting its annual festival as a virtual event because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The celebration will include speakers, entertainment, virtual vendors and more. The event will stream from the Magic Pride website and Facebook page from 1 to 6 p.m.
