66-Year-Old Menomonee Falls Man Dies on I-41 After People Try to Save Him

Police and Rescue responded to a crash that occurred on I-41/HWY-45 northbound at Watertown Plank Road on Sunday afternoon.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call regarding a crash that occurred on I-41/HWY-45 northbound at Watertown Plank Road yesterday at 3:45 p.m.

The first deputy to arrive found two citizens performing CPR on an unconscious man. The deputy took over CPR until the Wauwatosa Fire Department med unit arrived.

Witnesses said the vehicle slowly drifted toward the distress lane and struck the wall on the passenger side, causing minimal damage. They stopped to check on the driver, whom they found unresponsive and without a pulse. They lifted him out of the vehicle and placed him on the ground to begin chest compressions.

He did not sustain any obvious injuries as a result of the crash. William A. Carson III, age 66, of Menomonee Falls, was pronounced dead at 4:52 p.m.

Autopsy results have not yet been completed. Sheriff’s detectives are conducting the death investigation.
