Alert: Phony Assessor Gains Entry into Menomonee Falls Home

Police are asking the public to be on alert after a man posed as a phony village assessor to gain entry into one resident's home last week.

MENOMONEE FALLS, WI — Menomonee Falls police are asking the public to be on alert after a man posed as a phony village assessor to gain entry into one resident's home last week.

According to police, on Jan. 12 at 10:00 am, a subject claiming to be an assessor for the Village Of Menomonee Falls was allowed to enter a residence in the
southern area of the Village by the home owner. It was later determined that
the unknown subject was an imposter.

Police say the subject was described as a white male, mid 30s, 5’10”, 190lbs, brown hair, clean-shaven, wearing a brown bomber-style jacket and dark colored
pants. The subject was wearing some type of identification tag that did not
match those issued by the Village.

The subject was seen driving a late model black Nissan Rogue or Murano 4
door with no front registration plate.

Nothing was taken from the residence, and no other suspicious subjects
were seen in the area.

According to police, here's what to do in situations like the one mentioned above:
  • Do not open your door to someone you do not recognize. Do not allow anyone to enter your home if you are not sure of that person’s identity.
  • Ask to see photo identification (I.D.) through a window. Legitimate employees will comply with your request to show you their I.D. if you ask.
  • Call the Menomonee Falls Police Dept. at 262 532-8700 if you have any information regarding this incident or observe this individual in your neighborhood.
