Apartment Fire Causes $30K in Damage

The Menomonee Falls Fire Department extinguished a fire early Sunday morning in an apartment complex along Appleton Avenue in Menomonee Falls.

One person received minor burn injuries after a fire started in an apartment along Appleton Avenue early Sunday morning.

Police Chief Jeffrey Hevey said the blaze started at roughly 6 a.m. in an apartment at N81W15085 Appleton Ave. Hevey said the fire started in the kitchen after the tenant left something cooking on the stove unattended.

The occupant of the apartment made it out safely and was treated for minor burns on the scene, and did not need transport to a hospital. Two other individuals were also evacuated using a rescue ladder due to heavy smoke in the building’s hallway, which made it impassable.
