Brothers Play 108 Holes In 1 Day, So Other Kids Can Play At All

Zak, Max and Sam Kachelek have an exhausting Saturday of golf ahead, but it's for a good cause.

You might play 18 holes this weekend. If all goes well, you could squeeze in 36.

But it’s unlikely you’ll match the Kachelek brothers of Menomonee Falls. They’re going to golf 108 holes each at par-3 Noyes Golf Course in Milwaukee on Saturday to raise money for the First Tee of Milwaukee County.

First Tee provides access to and guidance in golf for children who otherwise might not get to play the game. Zak Kachelek, 17, and his brothers Sam, 13, and Max, 12, have raised several thousands of dollars for First Tee over the last three years, according to their mother, Becky.

Zak talks more about the family commitment as he answers 5 Questions from Patch:

Why do you choose to be so involved in the First Tee program?
The First Tee doesn’t just teach you how to golf.  It also teaches you life skills.  The First Tee has 9 core values.  They are respect, sportsmanship, perseverance, judgment, honesty, courtesy, integrity, confidence and responsibility.  These are skills that you can also use on and off of the golf course.  When you are involved in the First Tee program you make new friends.  Over the years I have made some pretty close friendships that I would not have made otherwise.

What’s the most holes you’ve ever golfed in one day before?
Last year during the 100 holes of charity at Noyes Golf Course I golfed 135 holes with my brother Sam.  It took us about 9 hours to finish all of them.

With your dad and two brothers each playing 108 short par-3 holes, that’s 432 chances for a hole-in-one. Who is most likely to get one, and why?
I believe that I have the best chance in getting a hole in one because I have the most experience at this golf course.  I have been golfing there for 10 years.  I have hit some pretty close shots, so hopefully this year is the year to make a hole in one.

Are you planning to golf in college? What are your future plans for the game?
I would like to play club golf at UW-Whitewater.

Tiger Woods is stuck on 14 majors. Is he going to catch Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18, and why or why not?
I think that he will catch up mostly because of his age.  Tiger is still young and has many more years of golf ahead of him.
