CCW For Her: Menomonee Falls Business Offers Womens-Only Conceal Classes

MENOMONEE FALLS, WI -- According to a national study, conceal carry permits for women have increased by 270 percent since 2007. Over that same time, there was a 178 percent increase in total permits.

One Menomonee Falls-area self-defense business is aiming to serve the area's female population in that regard, and has opened up Women's-only CCW classes led by female instructor Malissa K. Misch.

Misch is an NRA certified instructor, who recently told Patch.com that through her busines, MK Protection Strategies, she is embracing the opportunity to train women in self-defense, whether that's by physical defense, firearm training or other means.

MK Protection Strategies first Women's-only class will be at the end of January and will continue monthly classes for the foreeable future.

"Most of the women that expressed interest know what I do and tell me what they have been procrastinating about their firearms training," she said. "They want to get trained on how to use a firearm safely and effectively but keep putting it off. I am told that given that I am a female, they are more comfortable learning from me, so now seems like a good time for them."

Men like to set up private firearms training for their wives with me. That way both of them can defend themselves if needed and it's fun to got to the range together.

Misch said she has been receiving a consistent interest in her CCW and self-defense classes, and makes it easy for people to get involved - even if it's for the first time.

"...When I tell people I just met, that I offer physical self defense classes, fire arms training and CCW classes, people are immediately interested about the CCW classes for themselves or for their wives," she said.
