Here are a few ways to volunteer and make a difference in our community
Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in our community. Here are a few ways to help this summer.
- Shelter Receptionist - Answer phones, check in visitors and assist homeless adults experiencing mental illness and addictions and children weekdays at The Cathedral Center’s shelter. Contact atreptow@cathedral-center.org or 414-831-0394.
- Help Feed the Homeless and Hungry Breakfast - Prepare and serve breakfast to those who are hungry and homeless 7:00-10:00 a.m. weekdays. Contact The Gathering at angela@thegatheringwis.org or (414) 272-4122.
- Fostering Our Riparian Biodiversity - Remove invasive species, establish native plants and trees and maintain trails Monday and Friday afternoons and/or Saturdays. Contact ekirkwood@riverrevitalizationfoundation.org or 414-271-8000.
- Serve meals to hungry families and individuals - Prepare and serve evening meal, clean-up afterwards and interact with St. Vincent de Paul Society of Milwaukee’s guests; north and south side locations. Contact pwest@svdpmilw.org or 414-915-3353.
- 25th anniversary Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour - Staff rest stops, load and unload luggage, assist with parking, serve meals and more at Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour, July 22-23 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Register online.
- AIDS Walk Outreach at Brady Street Festival - Sign up participants for AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run at the Brady Street Festival Saturday, July 29. Contact AIDS Resource Center at melanie.stagg@arcw.org or 414-225-1570.
