Doggy Day Care Gets Seal of Approval

Pups-n-Stuff and the Ruff Hut, LLC will open along Leon Road. The business will provide boarding and vet services for strays not taken in by shelters. It will also offer grooming and boarding services for other dogs and cats.

A nonprofit dog rescue organization founded Brookfield is brining its operations to Menomonee Falls.

The Falls Village Board gave the final green light to JR’s Pups-n-Stuff and the Ruff Hut, LLC to operate a dog and cat facility at N83W13250

Leon Rd. The two businesses, though under different names, would remain under the same roof and operated by the same owners.

The two businesses would provide boarding services for stray dogs and cats when they are not claimed from shelters and place them in homes. Pups-n-Stuff would also perform spaying and neutering as well as other low-cost veterinary services for the animals they take in.

To offset the costs of their nonprofit, the Ruff Hut would serve as dog day care, dog training, and dog grooming operation. The training classes will include puppy training up to advanced classes.

Since Pups-N-Stuff was founded, the nonprofit has successfully placed over 1,800 animals into homes. The business operations are sustained through the efforts of volunteers and paid staff.

“This will be the first location of a potential franchise offering a variety of needed services and education,” stated the application to the village. “The next step would be to make these services available in more areas of the city.”

Pups-n-Stuff will only be allowed to board a total of 45 dogs and 10 cats, according to its permit approved by the village.

Village leaders were initially concerned about the noise from barking dogs, and its impact on two other businesses that occupy the building. However, building owner Paul Kolosso has made arrangements to ensure all tenants would remain content in their existing spaces.

Pups-n-Stuff also hopes to embed the business with the community, and offer educational opportunities for local students and the public.
