Downtown Eyesore Begins Destined Journey

A developer has plans to add a new parking lot to downtown and tear down an old building. The village will review the plan Tuesday.

For years, a vacant red duplex just south of Sal's Pub and Grill on Appleton Avenue has negatively impacted the aesthetic feel to downtown.

Well, starting Tuesday, the journey begins for that building to face its destiny. It's a destiny that likely leads to demolition and a new parking lot for downtown Menomonee Falls. The red duplex at N88W16677 Appleton Ave. would be razed as part of a plan to be reviewed by the Plan Commission at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Village Hall.

In its place, a small landscaped walkway would be installed. The walkway would lead to a new parking lot developer Bill Bode plans to construct behind the buildings along Mill Street.
