New Beginnings at Blue Spring Farm

The process of rebuilding is under way at Blue Spring Farm, which was destroyed after a massive fire in December.

Spring is all about new beginnings, and that’s certainly the case at Blue Spring Farm in Menomonee Falls.

In December, roughly 17 area fire departments battled a blaze throughout the night that quickly spread from a barn at Blue Springs Farm. The fire spread to a horse stable and a home on the site. Blue Spring was a widely used horse training and riding business. No one – human or animal – was injured, but a livelihood was lost.

But today, Blue Springs is amidst a phoenix-like rebirth. On Friday, Blue Springs posted the following update to their Facebook page:

“Great News!! The preliminary excavating and building pad are ready for building, and the first semi of building materials is being unloaded!!! Hooray!”

Three work crews from Cleary Building are prepared to construct the barn, and get Ingrid Knippelmeyer back in business.

Members of the tightly knit horse riding community, and the community at large, are rallied to get Knippelmeyer back on her feet just hours after they heard about the fire. People took in collections for food and supplies – as her entire family resided at the business.

In January, the community held a fundraising benefit at Sussex Bowl to help out the family. Knippelmeyer added the following post in January thanking the community for its support:

"Me and my girls are SO GRATEFUL to all that have supported us in the past month! We could not have gotten through this devastating time without the support of our friends and family... and friends that we haven't had the pleasure of getting to know yet... Your support is something that me and my girls will never forget!! It is very hard to get the sight of our farm engulfed in flames out of our heads... an unimaginable sight not easy to forget! I hope no other farm owners ever have to witness or experience such an event…

..I think everyone will absolutely LOVE the new facility!! Thank you to all that have suffered with the pains of the old facility and your loyalty to our farm!! I hope to see many enjoy the new facility, for the riders and boarders to share their daily stories with me again, and make many new friends through the chain of our great support!!"
