The Old Falls Village opened with a bang - literally - on Saturday.

Men and women wearing 19th century garb were deeply absorbed in their roles as citizens of a country divided within the 17-acre village. Abraham Lincoln casually perused the campground, a man got the tar-and-feather treatment for striking a woman, and healthy Confederate beards were in full supply - on and off the battlefield.

And despite dry conditions, the crowd was treated to plenty of gunfire and a few blasts from the artillery cannon.
After firing a volley of rifle shots during the shooting demonstration, the unit of some 25 soldiers attached their bayonets, the Confederates let out their infamous battle cry, and the woolen-clad group walked briskly toward the crowd. The chilling bayonet charge was frightening enough to send a toddler fleeing from his father's lap as a look of terror spread across his face with each advancing step.

He was quickly calmed and understood he wasn't in any real danger.
