Police Beat: Not Your Typical Graffiti Artist

Regardless of how you look at it, spray painting graffiti is a crime. But some unknown suspect took the ‘art’ of tagging a bit further than most.

Most reports of graffiti feature a curse word, a rendering of genitalia, or simply “The Class of…” painted on the rail bridge over Highway 74. However, this particular vandal or vandals put a little more effort into their crime.

A 12:12 p.m. Wednesday, the elaborate graffiti was discovered under the bridge at Main Street and Mill Street. The “artist” painted two large faces on the west wall of the bridge and line of trees along the opposite wall. They also painted the word “ski” in several locations, and the phrase, “Of all the places in the world.”

At 12:42 p.m. Aug. 25, a white male, 17 to 18 years old, was discovered spray-painting cat’s eyes under the same bridge by a witness. When police arrived, the suspect had already fled.

However, the vandal’s efforts were not only criminal, but were all for naught.

On Friday, a village official who had stopped under the bridge to assess the damage said work crews would be sand blasting the vandal’s work off of the walls.

At 6:49 p.m. Aug. 25, police arrested three suspects for shoplifting merchandise from department store. Two of the suspects were arrested in a blue Toyota, and the third was arrested outside the store. During the booking, one suspect also was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 1:53 p.m. Aug. 24, employees witnessed a female pushing a cart full of unbagged merchandise to a vehicle parked in the lot. The vehicle was a white Cadillac Catera with the license plate 420-TTU.

At 2:49 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to a home on the W13000 block of Fond Du Lac Avenue for a domestic disturbance call. A 49-year old woman said another woman was swearing and yelling at contractors while a child was present. The woman was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.

On Tuesday, a white male pumped $30.10 worth of gas from the . The man was driving a two-door, tan Chevrolet Blazer.

At 11:57 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to a home on the W15000 block of Menomonee Ave. to assist an incapacitated man who had consumed too much alcohol. The man had urinated and vomited on himself, and he was transported to for treatment.

A 41-year-old woman has continually to harass an employee of Herzing University via email, and by calling the university. The employee was a course supervisor for the suspect, but has never met the suspect. The suspect has not returned calls from police, however.

Police received a suspicious circumstances call at 2:15 p.m. Aug. 24 at . The suspect attempted to purchase $155 worth of tobacco products with a debit card, which was decline. The suspect left in a vehicle that was listed as stolen.
