Voters Rally at Appleton & Menomonee, Call on Johnson
Team Co-Lead Chris Byrnes said there will be future rallies, "until Senator Johnson puts democracy over politics - or until he is replaced"
MENOMONEE FALLS, WISCONSIN — On Tuesday, voters and activists from Menomonee Falls Action Team held a rally calling on Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) to defend democracy and urgently pass the For the People Act.
"The freedom to vote is under attack across the country and the best way to fight back is to demand action by Congress,” said Chris Byrnes, Team Co-Lead of Menomonee Falls Action Team. “The risk to democracy is real for Wisconsinites. Our own State Representative Janel Brandtjen led a delegation to Arizona to learn how to duplicate the sham ‘audit’. We need the For the People Act to protect voting rights, end dark money, stop partisan gerrymandering, and put power in the hands of the people, not big donors and special interests."
Two dozen people held signs visible to over 5,000 vehicles during the two-hour demonstration at Appleton & Menomonee in afternoon rush hour.

The For the People Act includes new voter protections, election security requirements, and a provision that bans partisan gerrymandering and requires states to establish independent redistricting commissions to draw fair Congressional maps before the 2022 midterm elections.
Byrnes said there will be future rallies, “until Senator Johnson puts democracy over politics - or until he is replaced in 2022 by someone who will.”
