20-year-old Racine Woman Faces Charges for Relationship With 16-Year-Old

She faces up to nine months in jail if convicted

RACINE -- Racine police say a 20-year-old woman is facing a sex charge for carrying on a relationship with a 16-year-old boy.

According to The Racine County Eye, Lyric Carothers, of Racine, was charged Wednesday in Racine County Circuit Court with one misdemeanor count of sexual intercourse with a child age 16 or older.

The boy’s mother called police after his sisters told her they saw the couple having sex August 15 at Carothers’ apartment during a party. When the boy was confronted about the relationship, he admitted he was involved with Carothers and that he wasn’t going to stop being with her.

Carothers was assigned a $1,000 signature bond at her initial appearance Wednesday and ordered to stay away from the boy and any third parties who might facilitate a meeting.

If convicted, she faces up to nine months in jail and/or up to $10,000 in fines.
