Adult Charges for Teen in Baseball Bat Beating Case

Michael Schram is the third member of the Schram family to be charged in the beating of a Racine teen.

Despite not being a legal adult, Michael Schram is facing some very adult consequences for the role police say he played in the beating of a Racine teenager on St. Patrick's Day.

According to a story in The Journal Times, Michael Schram, 17, of Mount Pleasant, was waived into adult felony court from juvenile court Thursday and given a $25,000 bail. He is charged with three felony counts of contributing to the physical abuse of a child and a single felony count of criminal damage to property.

- all 17 and from the Racine area - around 3 a.m. March 17. When they caught up to the car in the Lake Park neighborhood, Mount Pleasant police say the Schrams smashed out the windows of the car. Kevin Schram, 19, is suspected of using the bat to beat one of the teens.

According to the criminal complaint, the teens in the car were involved in an on-going altercation with Kevin and went to the Schram residence to try and goad Kevin into a fight. When that didn't work, the teens left to take a friend home.

Police say George Schram called the boys back to his house, but when the boys saw a larger group of people outside, they left and were pursued by the Schrams. When the teens' car got stuck in snow on a dead end street, that's when the attack began.
