Youth Needed for Alcohol Checks

Racine County Youth Coalition (RCYC) is recruiting volunteers to serve as buyers in alcohol compliance checks that are done throughout Racine County.

Compliance checks are done in partnership with the law enforcement agencies in Racine County and involve a person under the age of 21 entering a Class A store (convenience store, grocery store, liquor store) to try to purchase alcohol. Across Racine County, more 10th and 12th graders have had a drink in the past 30 days than the national average. Our youth are also report drinking more heavily. The average age that our youth in Racine County take their first drink is 13 years old.

The goal of the compliance check program is the reduce accessibility and availability of alcohol to underage youth, as well as hold store owners and retail clerks responsible if they sell to underage youth.
