Being One Of The Bucks 'Extremely Special' For Butler
After 11 years in the NBA, Racine native - and Park alumnus - Caron Butler comes home in a fashion: as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Racine native Caron Butler was welcomed home Thursday to Park High School for his official introduction as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks.
During his time at the microphone, Butler said signing with the Bucks is a dream come true.
"I had my eye on either Milwaukee or Chicago two years ago when I was a free agent, but it didn't work out," he noted. "This is a dream come true for me and it means the world to wear a Bucks uniform."
Butler is an 11-year veteran of the NBA with a championship ring from his years with the Dallas Mavericks. Head Coach Larry Drew said he hopes some of Butler's experience and his tough competitive spirit rubs off on the other players.
"Caron's championship experience is huge," he said. "He has solidified his name as one of the best small forwards to play the game, and I hope his tough mindset as a competitor rubs off on some of the other players."
Butler is happy to be home, saying being back with his family and having the support of the city really means a lot.
"I can't really put into words what it means to be back at Park today for this announcement," he added. "I've been watching these teams for years and now to at in this conference with Racine loud and proud behind me is just extremely special."
