Deputy Injured in Drunk Driving Crash

The Racine County Sheriff's Department says one of its deputies was injured by an alleged drunk driver at 16th and Ohio Monday night.

A Racine County Sheriff's deputy was injured, though not seriously, in a crash Monday night involving an alleged drunk driver.

According to a written release from the RCSD, the accident was caused by a 50-year-old Racine woman at 11 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 16th and Ohio streets. She was taken into custody by the Wisconsin State Patrol and subsequently charged with her third operating while intoxicated.

The deputy reportedly suffered a head injury, but was treated and released from the hospital the same night.

Wisconsin State Patrol booked the female driver into the Racine County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
