Drunk Milwaukee Man Arrested for Punching Officer at Kmart

Dustin Perez was arrested after Caledonia police responded to a fight in the Kmart parking lot

CALEDONIA -- Caledonia police say a 23-year-old intoxicated man got into a fight in the parking lot of KMart and then punched a responding police officer in the nose.

According to the Racine County Eye, officers were called to the parking lot of KMart, 5141 Douglas Ave, at about 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, for a report of two men fighting. When police arrived, one man had already fled, but Dustin Perez, of Milwaukee, was lying on the cement wearing only a pair of shorts and complaining of leg pain.

Perez then attempted to get up, but was advised by officers to stay down. Perez smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. When he tired again to get up and police told him to sit down, Perez lunged at an officer, striking him in the nose.

Officers forced Perez to the ground and took him into custody for transport to the hospital for medical clearance. While in the emergency room, Perez yelled profanities and repeatedly threatened officers, including death threats and harm to officers' family.

Later during transport to the Racine County Jail, police had to stop and pepper spray Perez. Perez remained combative even as he was being booked, requiring the assistance of officers from other agencies.
