Eat Pizza and Help Support Breast Cancer Research

Oct. 12 is Slice of Hope Day, and Valentia's Pizzeria in Sturtevant will donate 10 percent of its dinner proceeds to the Karen Mullen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Instead of worrying about dinner on Oct. 12, go instead to Valentia's Pizzeria in Sturtevant and help advance breast cancer research at the same time.

Dan and Ginger Valentia are participating in National Pizza Party Day as part of Slice of Hope, a charitable program in the pizza industry. The Valentias will donate 10 percent of the night's proceeds to the Karen Mullen Breast Cancer Foundation. The organization will then distribute 100 percent of the funds from this event to select research labs across the country.

In a press release, Dan Valentia said the 110 daily breast cancer deaths are far too many.

"There isn’t a person in this country who hasn’t felt the effects of breast cancer in some way,” the Valentias said in the statement. “Whether you’ve had the disease yourself, or a family member or friend has had it, it’s safe to say you’ve been impacted by breast cancer."

National Pizza Party Day and Slice of Hope is a national initiative, and the Valentias are proud to be part of it.
