With 15 of 25 available grants already handed out for rain gardens, Mount Pleasant-Sturtevant Patchers have only two more opportunities to apply.
The last workshop of "Greening Up Your Garden" from the Root-Pike WIN (Watershed Initiative Network) are scheduled for June 25. Anyone interested in applying for a rain garden grant must attend one of the workshops.
Participants learn how to minimize stormwater runoff, one of the primary causes of pollution in area waterways; healthy lawn care; proper composting practices; and, of course, how to plant and care for a rain garden. One rain barrel will be given away at each workshop by a random drawing.
