Family Feud After Accident Outside Police Station

Brothers are charged with disorderly conduct after police watch them fight outside the Village Hall campus.

Mount Pleasant police say they charged two brothers with misdemeanor disorderly conduct Tuesday after they got into an accident that escalated into a fight.

According to MPPD Sgt. David Stroupe, brothers in separate cars were on their way to their mother's house at around 4:30 p.m. to work out a family issue when they got into a car accident - with each other - at the corner of Campus Drive and 90th Street.

The accident quickly escalated into a fight, which detectives could see from a window in the police station just about 50 yards away.

"Someone from Village Hall did call it in, but investigators saw what was going on so they went out and broke up the fight," Stroupe said.

A witness who was attending a meeting at Village Hall and observed the incident said one of the brothers very clearly yelled, "If you had done like I told you this wouldn't have happened."

The altercation apparently was an on-going issue over a cell phone.

Both brothers were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and received order-in dates for court.

It is unclear if the brothers ever made it to their mom's house.
