Highway 20 Construction Means Detours For Racine County Drivers
Highway 20 is being reconstructed near I-94, making for several days' worth of detours.

RACINE, WI — They say there are only two seasons in Wisconsin: winter, and construction season. So, welcome to construction season.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reconstructing Highway 20, between Highway C/Spring Street and International Drive in Racine County.
As part of the next phase of the project, transportation officials say crews will work to construct the new Highway 20 westbound lanes between West Frontage Road and International Drive.

Here's what is happening on Highway 20, starting on Wednesday:
- Westbound traffic is scheduled to be shifted to the south, to the eastbound lanes of Highway 20, by 5:30 a.m.
- Highway 20 eastbound left-turn to the I-94 West entrance ramp is scheduled to close by 3 a.m. through fall 2020.
- Highway 20 westbound left-turn to I-94 East entrance ramp is scheduled to close by 3 a.m. through fall 2020.
- Northbound traffic on East and West Frontage Road is scheduled to be shifted to the existing southbound lanes of the frontage roads until late summer 2020.
Access to businesses and residents will be maintained throughout construction.

Detour route: Transportation officials say motorists should use the frontage roads, Highway K, International Drive and Highway 11 to get around the I-94 entrance ramp restrictions.
