I-94 Accident Between Car, Dump Truck Monday Afternoon

Authorities say they received calls indicating that the vehicles involved were damaged and in traffic.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Authorities in Racine County say there were no injuries following a traffic accident involving a dump truck and car in the I-94 work zone on Monday afternoon.

On Monday at just after 4:30 p.m., authorities responded to a two-vehicle accident on I-94 just north of Durand Ave. Authorities say they received calls indicating that the vehicles involved were damaged and in traffic.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Chrysler sedan was traveling north on the interstate in the far-right lane with a dump truck operating in the middle lane. The dump truck started a lane change into the right lane which was still occupied by the Chrysler sedan.

Authorities say the dump truck struck the rear of the Chrysler sedan sending this vehicle across three lanes of traffic and into the concrete median barrier wall. The impact from the accident pushed the concrete median barrier wall into the left lane on the southbound side of the interstate.

No additional vehicles were struck as a result of the median barrier being shifted.
There were no reported injuries from this accident. Several interstate traffic lanes were shut down for about 30 minutes due to this incident.

The concrete median barrier wall was assessed for structural integrity and has been positioned back into place by interstate construction workers.
