Jacato Drive Puppet Show Features Superheroes

Volunteers with We Are Racine spend their summer afternoons running a program for the children of Jacato Drive.

Volunteers with We Are Racine spend their summer afternoons on Jacato Drive to give the kids there structured fun in the sun.

Patch had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with WAR Thursday and the children who have come to look forward to spending their afternoons doing art projects, playing games and participating in learning activities.

We helped kids follow directions from teacher Nancy Smith on making puppets and writing a puppet show. One of the shows was, we admit, so much better than anything we came up with; Guardian Legends involved animals changing into superheroes at a watering hole.

Thank you, WAR, for a great couple of hours and the work you do every day on Jacato Drive. Thanks, too, to the kids who were open and friendly and let us join in the fun.
