Legal, Synthetic Opiate Kills 2 in Racine

An additional 50 people have died across the country

RACINE -- Racine County law enforcement officials are investigating the deaths of two people who took a legal form of synthetic opiate they likely ordered online.

According to The Racine County Eye, the two men died this summer as a result of taking the legal synthetic opiate U-47700, which is reportedly more dangerous than illegal synthetic opiates already available on the street.

While officials work to change the status of U-47700 to that of a controlled substance, in the past 6 weeks an additional 50 people across the country and another 3 people in Southeast Wisconsin are dead as a result of using the drug.
