Man Attacks Himself with Knife at Chipotle

Police say a man who was having a relationship with an employee at Chipotle Mexican Grill cut himself before fleeing and driving west on Washington Avenue.

Mount Pleasant Police responded to a call at Chipotle Friday for a report of a man with a knife.

According to a written statement from the MPPD, officers arrived at Chipotle Mexican Grill, 5720 Washington Avenue, at 8:39 p.m. Reports to police said a man allegedly used a knife to inflict two "large lacerations to his arms."

The man was reportedly in a relationship with an employee, but the incident was unrelated to the restaurant.

Police located the man's car as it traveled west on Highway 20, and they pulled him over at Renaissance Boulevard. The man was detained, and the knife was recovered. He was transported to Wheaton Franciscan for treatment and evaluation.
