Man Collapses from Heroin Use, Faces Charges with Female Friend, Police Say
After being treated for heroin use, a man and a woman are now in the Racine County Jail facing drug charges.

Mount Pleasant Police and South Shore Rescue responded to a call for a possible heroin overdose Wednesday afternoon in the 1500 block of South Green Bay Road that ended with two people in custody.
According to a written release from MPPD, dispatch got a call at 1:30 p.m. about a 25-year-old man who may have overdosed on heroin. The female caller said she couldn't feel a pulse, and that the man had been down for about 10 minutes.
Police were first on scene and report that the man was unconscious with a weak pulse. When South Shore rescue arrived, they immediately started treatment while officers questioned the female caller.

Reports indicate both the patient and the female caller had been using heroin so both were transported to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary's while police continued to investigate. After treatment, both individuals were taken to the Racine County Jail.
Elyse Renee Oppenlander, 27, of Burlington and Willie DeGroot, 25, of Mount Pleasant are expected to face charges of felony possession of heroin, felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
