Man 'Bleeding Profusely' from Overnight Scuffle

A man was found bleeding from a head wound in the 2300 block of Racine Street.

Mount Pleasant police say they took a man to the hospital early Tuesday morning after he was injured in an altercation with two others.

According to a written statement from police, officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Racine street at 2:21 a.m. for reports of an intoxicated man who was bleeding and screaming.

When MPPD arrived, they found a man "bleeding profusely" from a head wound and two wounds on his right hand. Officers discovered that the man was injured in an altercation with two other men outside of a residence in the 2200 block of Mead Street.

People asleep at the house say they heard a "scuffle" coming from the kitchen area of the home, but when they went to investigate, there wasn't anyone present.

Officers transported the victim to Wheaton Franciscan for treatment. The incident remains under investigation.
