Mom Faces 2nd OWI With Kids, Car Pulled from Pond

Police say a woman was drunk with two kids in the car when she drove into the retention pond near Marcus Cinemas. No one was injured.

Sturtevant police say a 38-year-old woman from Union Grove was arrested Saturday night for her second OWI with children under 16 after her car went into the retention pond at Marcus Cinemas.

Sheila Bell, and two children ages 13 and nine years old, were not injured. Bell was taken into custody and transported to the Racine County Jail. Police are forwarding charging recommendations to the District Attorney on operating while intoxicated, second offense with passengers under the age of 16 and two counts of recklessly endangering safety.

Police Chief Sean Marschke told Patch that officers were called at 10:44 p.m. Saturday to the parking lot of Marcus Cinema in the Renaissance Business Park for a report of a car that drove into the retention pond there.

The red, 2003 Ford Mustang was completely submerged and not visible, but the occupants were not inside the vehicle because they'd walked away.

Members of the Racine County Dive Team were called in to recover the vehicle from the water.
