Mom Turns in Child for Shoplifting and More from Sturtevant

A mom turns in her kid for shoplifting, neighbors get sick of picking up arrows, and a classic car gets keyed.

Judging by the reports filed by officers, the last few days have been busy, and perhaps a little bit interesting, for the Sturtevant Police Department.

Neighbors get sick of picking up arrows

On Sept. 12, officers answered a call from residents in the 8800 block of Queensbury Lane about their neighbors shooting arrows into their yard.

According to the police report, the neighbors used a bow to shoot arrows and the residents were tired of picking them up. The resident said they've been picking up arrows for the last two years. A village ordinance prohibits discharging dangerous weapons on private or public property, "Dangerous weapons included by definition are such things as guns, airguns, bb-guns, bows, etc. which impels or releases a missile by compressed air, spring, or other means." Chief Sean Marschke confirmed citations were not issued in this case. 

A classic car gets keyed

A classic car was damaged on Sept. 14. Someone keyed a quarter panel on a 1970 Ford LTD in the 3500 block of Highway H, police reports indicate. Damage was estimated at $200.

Police responded on Sept. 16 to a business in the 8800 block of Durand Avenue. The culprits made off with $200 in cash and an unknown amount of coins. Callers said the theft occured sometime after 3:30 a.m.

Prison orange is not a good look

In an effort to impress upon her child the consequences for embarking on a life of crime, a mother on Sept. 16 turned in her kid for stealing. The juvenile apparently shoplifted 13 packs of gum from a business in the 8900 block of Durand Avenue. Mom told officers she wanted the child "to be held accountable."
