One Shoplifting Suspect at Large, Another in Custody

Mount Pleasant police are searching for a female suspect after officers took a male shoplifting suspect into custody.

Mount Pleasant police are searching for the female accomplice to suspected shoplifter Anthony Roach, Jr.

Roach, 21, of Racine, was arrested Monday night after a short foot chase through Stuart McBride Park on Durand Avenue because police say he and a woman were shoplifting from Best Buy, 2710 S. Green Bay Road.

According to a press release from MPPD, officers were called to Best Buy at 6:33 p.m. Monday for a shoplifting in progress. When police arrived, both the male - later identified as Roach - and a female fled the scene in a vehicle.

Officers attempted to stop the car when the driver abruptly stopped and Roach jumped out. A short foot chase led police through Stuart McBride Park where they took Roach into custody, the release reads.

Police say Roach was wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant, is out of jail on probation and is a registered sex offender. Roach was transported to the Racine County Jail on a charge of obstruction and for the warrant.

The female suspect got away, and police are actively searching for her.
