Update: Power Restored to Over 1,400 in Villages
A hawk flying into some lines at a substation means over 1,400 customers are without power in Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant.

**Updated 2:40 p.m.
The lights are back on for more than 1,400 customers throughout Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant after a hawk collided with part of a transformer at the substation in Mount Pleasant on Oakes Road.
WE Energies spokesperson Brian Manthey said once crews knew what caused the outage, they were able to restore power in a relatively short amount of time.
"The hawk's contact with the lines created a fault and disabled power for customers," he told Patch. "Workers re-energized those lines in that section of the substation to get everyone back on line in less than two hours."
Wildlife effecting power isn't an unusual situation, but squirrels are more often the unfortunate victims.
"We see this more with squirrels on overhead lines," Manthey explained. "We do take precautions, but some equipment is outside so there is some risk and creates an unfortunate situation."
