Peaceful Protest Planned Friday Night In Racine

Called the Caravan for Justice, a procession of cars will head north into downtown Racine for a courthouse rally involving guest speakers.

RACINE, WI — Several groups including the Racine NAACP chapter, Voces de la Frontera/Youth Empowered in the Struggle, African American Roundtable of Leaders are holding a Caravan for Justice Friday afternoon into the evening in Racine.

"In solidarity with our black brothers and sisters in the struggle, organizations are planning a caravan and press conference for Friday, June 5th in Racine. We rally for black lives because Black Lives Matter," organizers said.

The rally is planned for 4:30 p.m. along Caron Butler Drive on Racine's south side, and will head north, ending at the Racine County Courthouse. Along the way, there will be a police escort to help control intersections for the caravan, organizers said.

The caravan will end at the courthouse, where a number of speakers will address the audience gathered there.

4:30 p.m.: Meet on Caron Butler Drive, line up cars along Roosevelt Park Drive. Decorate your car with your support for Black Lives.

5 p.m.: Caravan will begin to move and head towards the Racine County Courthouse, 730 Wisconsin Ave. Police escorts will allow motorists to drive through red lights, organizers said.

5:20 p.m: Honk your horn 9 times when you see a speaker head up the courthouse steps!

Speakers will be broadcast through live video. Do not leave your cars. Follow that caravan.
