Piggly Wiggly Holiday Cheer Helps Make Shopping Easier

Piggly Wiggly on Washington Avenue hosted a holiday open house Saturday featuring the products of some of their vendors, many of them from right here in Wisconsin.

Saturdays are normally busy shopping days at Piggly Wiggly. Add the holidays and lines can get long which can make stress go up.

To help shoppers enjoy their weekly grocery trip, store Owner Ralph Malicki and Manager Jeff Gesler introduced their first Holiday Open House Saturday featuring 30 tasting stations throughout the store.

In addition to lowering customer stress, the day was also an opportunity for some of Malicki's vendors - many of them from the Racine area and the state in general - to show off their best products.

"We feature a lot of things here in the store that most people will never try," he said. "This is a great way for our vendors to get tastes of their products to customers. And who doesn't like free samples?"

The day also featured photos with Santa and live music from the Washington Park High School choir and entertainer Big Joe Kennedy.

Going forward, Malicki said he's going to keep hosting these types of events. On the store's Facebook page, he posted:

We also really appreciate you, our customers and hope you enjoyed our open house as much as we did! We are going to try and keep the momentum going by having something every Saturday that makes your shopping pleasant especially at a time of year that can be stressful.
