Police Looking for Three Teens After Assault
Mount Pleasant police are looking for three teenage male suspects in the assault of an older man Monday night.

Mount Pleasant police are trying to identify and locate three teenage boys who are suspected of assaulting an older man as he walked on Taylor Avenue Monday night.
MPPD officers were dispatched at 9:23 p.m. Monday to the 4400 block of Taylor Avenue for a report of a man lying on the shoulder of the road bleeding. When police arrived, they found the 59-year-old victim bleeding from the face and suffering from "substantial injuries" to his face and head, according to Mount Pleasant police Sgt. Eric Relich.
The man, whose name is not being released, told officers he was walking east on Taylor after leaving the McDonald's at the corner of Taylor and Meachem Road. He noticed three black, teenage boys following him and said they attacked him from behind with some kind of weapon.
"There is no indication that any property was taken from (the victim)," Relich said in an email to Patch.
The young men fled on foot, but when officers searched the surrounding area, they were unable to locate the suspects. Police say the man could only provide a limited description; one suspect was tall and the other two were of medium height.
Crews from South Shore Fire transported the man to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary's for treatment. In a written statement about the incident, Relich said the victim remains in the hospital.
This incident remains under investigation but police believe this was a random attack.
