**Updated 3:15 p.m.

Racine police have a suspect in custody for stabbing two people overnight Friday.

The 48-year-old male suspect was located inside a home in the 1200 block of Albert Street.

"The 48 year old man is in custody and no further information will be released at this time," RAPD Lt. Martin Pavalonis said in the statement.

Officers responded at 2:15 a.m. Friday for a report of two people who had been stabbed in an apartment in the 500 block of 3-Mile Road, according to Pavalonis.

Both victims were transported to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary's and then to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. There is no word on their condition.

When police arrived, they discovered a 45-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. The victims told officers that the suspect first attacked the woman, and the woman was able to escape the apartment. The man was attacked next, but the suspect got away before police arrived.

"Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect," Pavalonis said in a written release.

By Friday afternoon, police issued another statement saying the person was in custody.
