RACINE COUNTY, WI — Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave extended the state of emergency in Racine County in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, a procedural step he says is aimed at maintaining continuity of county government operations and positioning it to acquire state and federal resources.

The extension will go before the Racine County Board on Tuesday. The emergency declaration will remain in effect until Wednesday, June 10, or until a superseding order is issued or resolution extending the duration of the order is passed by the County Board.

The declaration extension is not related to the state Safer at Home order or coronavirus- related restrictions. Rather, it is necessary to allow County government to use its full resources to meet community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, county officials said Friday.

“We continue to take all necessary steps to protect communities and support our residents and businesses during this unprecedented public health emergency,” County Executive Delagrave said in a statement Friday.
