Racine County Offers Details About New Youth Justice Facility
Racine County was awarded $40 million in state funding to construct a modern, trauma-informed secure residential care center.
RACINE COUNTY, WI—Racine County was awarded $40 million in state funding to construct a modern, trauma-informed Secure Residential Care Center for Children and Youth to replace the existing juvenile detention center. The facility will be known as the Racine County Youth Development and Care Center.
Public forums on the project will be held from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, November 16, and Tuesday, November 17.

The forums provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the new facility, including its purpose and goals to budget, construction, and timeline. Community members will also be able to ask questions of project staff.
“We’re excited to move forward on a new facility which will transform our youth justice program and lead to better outcomes for Racine County children and families. I encourage any resident interested in learning more to join us at an upcoming virtual public forum,” County Executive Delagrave said.
