Racine Public Library To Shut Down For Two Days Due To Furloughs
If you've got library books due on May 24 or 25, the library will be closed because of budget constraints.

Citing budget cuts, the Racine Public Library and the Mobile Library will be closed on May 24 and 25 due staff having to take furlough days.
The City requires staff to take furlough days on the Fridays prior to Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day, according to a story in the Journal Times.
However, the library wouldn't be able to maintain the needed staffing levels on either of those days and needed to close on Saturday as well, stated Jessica MacPhail, director of the Racine Public Library, in a press release.

"We deeply regret the inconvenience this will cause," MacPhail said in the release.
In addition to the closures, the Racine Public Library website will be unavailable on May 24 and 25. Staff will also not be available to collect books and other materials from the book drops and they are asking library patrons not to put materials in the book drops on May 24 and 25.

Reopening on May 26, the library website will also be available after midnight on Sunday, as will the collection from the book drops. No materials will be due those two days, so no fines will be charged.
