Details are sketchy, but an accident was reported shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday at Durand Avenue and Oakes Road in Mount Pleasant.

Racine County dispatchers confirmed the crash happened, and said personnel were all on scene, so no information was available.

Roads in the area were closed but re-opened after 9:30 p.m.

Patch posted something on our Facebook page and has been receiving updates from people who have seen the accident scene. One woman said she knows the driver of one of the two cars involved.

Based on Facebook comments on our original post, it appears that a yellow-and-black pickup truck and a black Kia collided at that intersection. At least one of the vehicles was flipped onto its roof.

It appeared several ambulances were called to the scene, and another Facebook commenter said the emergency room is busy because of the crash.
