Sheriff Warns About Police Impersonator

The Racine County Sheriff's Office is warning motorists about a suspect who impersonated an officer on Sept. 26 near Waterford and allegedly assaulted a young woman.

According to a written release from the RCSD, the victim was driving near County K and Apple Road in western Racine County when she said a car behind her started flashing a red light. She pulled over, thinking a police officer was initiating a traffic stop.

When the suspect approached the woman, he displayed a weapon and then assaulted her. The attack ended and the suspect fled when another vehicle drove by on Highway K.

The victim describes the suspect as:

• Black male
• 6 feet tall, 200 pounds
• Not dressed as a police officer
• Driving a dark colored, four-door car with the letter "T" as the possible fourth character on the license plate

The Racine County Sheriff's Department wants to remind drivers that official law enforcement officers will have both a red and a blue flashing light and not a single light of any color. If a motorist is being stopped and a red/blue light is not visible, the RCSD advises drivers to go to a well lit area and call 911.
