Shoplifting, BB Guns, Disorderly Conduct, Stolen Goods, Attempted Scam
Three kids were cited twice on two different days for shooting at the windows of older residents with a BB gun.

Police reports varied in Sturtevant over the last few weeks. Incidents included shoplifting youth to more serious thefts, kids who used a BB gun to shoot at the windows of older residents, and a woman who didn't fall for a telephone scam.

Coins and candy
A 14-year-old boy was cited on Jan. 15 for trying to steal commemorative coins from a business in the 9500 block of Durand Avenue.

Officers say at 8:57 p.m. on Jan. 28, they cited a 12-year-old boy with retail theft for trying to steal candy and gum from a business in the 8900 block of Durand Avenue.
Kids cited twice for BB gun
Three kids were cited twice in two days for using a BB gun to shoot at the windows of at least three homes.

At 2:02 p.m. on Jan. 26, a 56-year-old woman in the the 8600 block of Westminster Dr. reported having her house shot several times with a BB gun.
Then, on Feb. 9, officers were called at 1:28 p.m. to the 3100 block of 91st Street for reports from a 60-year-old man who said his window had been shot by a BB gun. Three youths were found in the 8900 block of Broadway Drive and cites for criminal damage to property, carrying a dangerous weapon and discharging a dangerous weapon.
The next day, officers cited the kids again for criminal damage to property after police say they shot at a window in the 3200 block of 91st Street no less than six times with a BB gun.
Disorderly disturbances
At 2:24 a.m. on Feb. 10, an officer witnessed a 27-year-old male throw a beer bottle at a vehicle leaving a business in the 10000 block of Stellar Avenue. He was cited for disorderly conduct.
Officers on Feb. 1 cited an 83-year-old man for trespass and interfering/obstructing police because he refused to leave a business in the 9800 block of Durand Avenue. He reportedly told officers he wanted to be arrested, would not go peacefully and was prepared to put up a fight.
Car theft, items taken from driveway
A 50-year-old male from the 8800 block of Buckingham Dr. on Jan. 21 told police he thought a 44-year-old male who borrowed his vehicle might have sold it for drugs in Illinois. The man's car was found in Illinois after it had been towed.
A 61-year-old woman called police on Feb. 17 to report the theft of several items from the driveway of her former residence in the 3000 block of 93rd Street. Thieves got away with a 22-caliber Derringer in a large pistol leather case, a cabinet, stained glass, and a seaman's trunk. She said the goods were taken before she could retrieve them.
Phone scam alert
And, finally, a phone scam that wasn't getting past this sharp lady. Police say at 2:17 p.m. on Jan. 17, a 63-year-old female in the 3500 block of County H reported she received a call telling her to buy Green Dot cards at Walmart, and, in exchange, she would be paid $5 million dollars. Police say the phone number listed on the woman's Caller ID was out of Jamaica.
