State Patrol: Man in Custody for 5th OWI

A Racine man was in the Racine County Jail Friday after state troopers arrested him for a 5th OWI offense.

Wisconsin State Patrol pulled over David Simington, 44, of Racine, at 1:43 a.m. Friday on Highway 31 just south of Washington Ave. for a seatbelt violation.

But, because troopers say Simington appeared intoxicated, they performed field sobriety tests, which he failed.

State patrol took Simington into custody on a 5th offense operating while intoxicated. He was taken to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary's for a blood draw before being transported to the Racine County Jail.

The written statement from Wisconsin State Patrol does not list the results of Simington's blood draw, and court records have not been updated to list any case details.
