Straw Firearm Purchase Arrest related to Racine Homicide

"Let it be known that my office recommends prison in every case in which a felon possesses a firearm illegally. "

RACINE COUNTY, WI—On October 17th, 2020 Racine Police responded to the 1200blk of Yout St. reference a homicide. The investigation led to the arrest and charge of Khalil Buckley, 23, for the homicide of victim Marcus Caldwell, 20 of Racine.

Through evidence collected at the scene, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives(ATF) was able to trace the purchase of the handgun used in the homicide.

An adult female has been arrested and charged by the U.S. District Court in St. Louis, Missouri for providing the weapon used in the homicide.

"This serves as another example of the dangers of straw purchases of firearms and shows the commitment to arresting and prosecuting all involved," according to a media release.

Racine District Attorney Patricia Hanson states, “Let it be known that my office recommends prison in every case in which a felon possesses a firearm illegally. From this point forward, my office will also include prison recommendations for those who illegally provide firearms to known felons, regardless of their lack of criminal history.”

The Racine Police Department thanked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the US Marshals Service, and the Racine District Attorney’s Office for their assistance with the investigation.
