Sturtevant's Founding Family Rests at American Metal Technologies

Stillman Parker and his family were laid to rest in a plot of land on Durand Avenue inside the gates of what is now American Metal Technologies.

The village of Sturtevant was founded in 1854, give or take a year or so, by two settlers, Hezekia Johnson and Peter Knudson, but wasn't known by either of those names.

Instead, Stillman Parker, a fairly wealthy man who owned about 25 acres and several other lots had the honor of having the town named after him. Parkersville officially existed as of 1854.

And it is Parker and members of his family who are laid to rest on Durand Avenue just inside the west entrance of American Metal Technologies, their plot marked by a large stone marker.
