Sturtevant police have confirmed that the body found Wednesday in the Kirkorian Nature Preserve is that of a 24-year-old Sturtevant resident.
Police Chief Sean Marschke told Patch that Racine County Medical Examiner Michael Payne has confirmed that the man committed suicide.

A call came in at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday from someone who wanted officers to check on a friend in the 8600 block of Broadway, Marschke added.
When police and a rescue team from South Shore Fire Department arrived, they found the victim. He died from a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"I want to make sure residents know that despite Kirkorian being next door to Schulte School, at no time were students, faculty or staff in any danger because Racine Unified schools are on spring break this week," Marschke said.
The friend who made the 911 call reportedly got a text message from the man saying he "was going to end things."
