RACINE, WI — The Blue Rock Lounge, Dewey's and Molbeck's were among the 146 small businesses in Racine that were awarded emergency funding through the City of Racine amid the cornavirus pandemic.

The program aims to help businesses weather the COVID-19 crisis. City officials said small businesses were among the first to feel the economic impacts of coronavirus and, between two rounds of funding, the city allocated a total of $900,000 to help to support them during the pandemic.

During this second round, small businesses with up to 20 employees in the City of Racine were eligible to apply for grants of up to $6,500. Funding for the program was approved by the Common Council and is made available through the City’s Sanitary Sewer Surcharge Fund and from the City’s allocation of Room Taxes.

“Small businesses are the first ones to feel the economic impact of COVID-19. It is our hope that the City’s support to these additional 146 small businesses will help them pay the bills for another month as talks about reopening the economy begin," Racine Mayor Cory Mason said. "We want our business districts to continue to be destinations long after coronavirus, which is why we are doing what we can to help them financially."
