OWI Citation For Woman Who Crashed
Mount Pleasant Police were called to an accident that resulted in OWI charges and the driver in the hospital.

A 32-year-old woman is in the hospital after police found her car in a ditch Wednesday night.
Mount Pleasant police were called to the corner of Highways V and G for a car in the ditch and a driver with unknown injuries. When officers arrived, they found a woman they felt was impaired in an SUV with damage to the front end.
Caledonia officers first took the call but were busy answering other calls and asked Mount Pleasant for assistance.

Since it didn't appear the woman had hit anything in the immediate area, police determined the driver was on Highway H going north towards Highway 38. She reportedly jumped the median at the intersection and struck a sign in the southbound lane at the intersection.
At some point, the woman made her way to Highway V, traveling south toward Highway G. Officers say the driver cut off another car before ending up in the ditch. When she made statements about harming herself, police took the woman to the hospital.

"We were very lucky she did not strike another vehicle, or further injure herself," said MPPD Sgt. Paul Maccari in an email to Patch.
