Mount Pleasant Police and the Racine County Medical Examiner are investigating a suspicious death after a woman was found dead at an area hotel.
MPPD confirmed that Leigh A. Walters, 49, was found without a pulse at 12:29 p.m. Saturday at the Travelodge, 910 S. Sylvania Ave in Yorkville. The call was originally directed to the Racine County Sheriff's Department, but squads were otherwise occupied so Mount Pleasant responded.

"Our officers found a lone female, deceased, at about 12:30 p.m.," he confirmed. "There were no obvious signs of trauma, and it is not clear at this time if officers recovered anything at the scene."
MPPD Sgt. David Stroupe said Walters was originally from South Carolina. She had been living at the hotel for the last six months or so with her life partner, and it was her friend who called 911.
"We believe her friend called 911, and she told us that they were in town because the partner was a traveling nurse," he said. "There is not an occupation listed for the deceased."
Dennis Corr from the ME's office said the victim's family has been notified, and an autopsy and toxicology tests are expected Monday morning to determine the cause of death.
